Launching My Substack: AI, Investing, and Industry Transformation
Today I’m launching a Substack newsletter focused on what may be the central economic question of our time:
How is artificial intelligence changing industry economics?
AI is already reshaping the labor market, workflows inside companies, and the competitive dynamics of entire industries. For investors, the challenge is separating hype from the real structural changes happening inside businesses.
This newsletter will approach that question through the lens of an investor analyzing publicly traded companies.
In particular, I plan to examine how AI is altering the way companies acquire customers, operate their businesses, and ultimately generate profits.
A natural starting point for me is education technology. Much of my professional background has involved analyzing companies in the education and training ecosystem, which provides a useful vantage point for understanding how AI may affect credentialing, online learning platforms, and workforce reskilling. I expect to begin there and expand into other sectors over time.
A bit about my background.
Earlier in my career I worked on the sell-side at several investment banks analyzing publicly traded companies across industries including software, media, and education technology. That work involved building financial models, evaluating earnings results, studying regulatory filings, and forming investment views about how businesses create long-term shareholder value.
That analytical framework is what I intend to bring to this newsletter.
Beginning in 2025, I started publishing research and commentary on platforms such as Seeking Alpha and LinkedIn. Those platforms have been useful for sharing ideas, but they do not provide much visibility into who is actually reading the work or allow a direct relationship with readers.
Substack changes that dynamic.
It allows writers to build a direct relationship with readers through email subscriptions and provides ownership of the distribution channel.
Stay tuned.
